Diane Sprung on Man 1, Bank 0: "This Piccolo Spoleto production at Theatre 99 is a must-see for a humorous escape."
William Furtwangler on Sunday's chamber music: The concert "found artistic director and host Charles Wadsworth waxing nostalgic about his past 45-year association with Spoleto Festival (USA and in Italy)."
Eliza Ingle on Emio Greco/PC: "This avant-garde work is not for the faint of heart, but many in the audience rose to the feet in appreciation of this thought-provoking work." (Editor's note: Bryce Donovan, who sits next to me in the newsroom, attended the same show, and let's just say he wasn't one of those who rose to their feet in appreciation.)
Jazz critic Jack McCray on bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons: "The humidity at the College of Charleston's Cistern had the virtuoso wiping his instrument down all night, but he was undeterred. The trio was tight and clean. It played with great contrast and dynamism, something missing in a lot of music these days."
Jeff Johnson on The Abduction from the Seraglio: "This charming comedy is the first full opera performed at Piccolo Spoleto and, thanks to a talented quintet of singers, an enthusiastic if small chorus, an energized Charleston Symphony Orchestra and the flexible conducting of Gregory Buchalter, it was an overwhelming success."
Mary Solomon on Early Music Series: "Chatham Baroque concluded this very successful concert with a song of Spanish origin originally composed for the guitar. They certainly looked as if they were having fun with this crowd-pleaser."
I'm disappointed again this year not to see any reviews about Antioch Chamber Ensemble; its 4th concert for Piccolo Spoleto. This fantastic group from the NYC area returned this year as a venue in the Spotlight Series. It seems no one covers this well-deserving chamber ensemble who not only has been a feature for the last 4 years at Piccolo, but most are former members of the Westminster Choir under Maestro Flummerfelt! Surely, they deserve better than this!

I couldn't agree more! I am glad to see we have an ardent fan:-) It is definately disappointing not to have any press coverage of a concert that we worked so hard to present. I keep saying: "maybe next year..."

Maybe it's about time that those arogant, stuck-up people from Westminster be humbled a bit and take the back seat for once. Who said they could sing anyhow?

I'm shocked to hear such venom from a music lover such as yourself ;> I wasn't aware that Antioch had a rival. A jealous one, at that, or so it appears. Care to name your music venue so people can attend your concert, as well?
